David Morrison, market strategist at GFT, added a note of caution ahead of the break: “I find these gains in the financial sector slightly perplexing.Banks should be very profitable in the current environment, but there are still questions over their solvency. The reporting season gets busy next week and the stress-test results come out this month so there is still the potential for a nasty surprise or two, and from where I’m sitting, there is no way we’ve seen the worst in this crisis.”
